Gas prices still astonishing people!

Even though you certainly know this from your own experiences, you should really know the following:

Americans are spending an average of $3.975 for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline -- a 35 cent increase since last month -- motorist group AAA reported Sunday.

It marks the 25th straight record high, according to AAA data.

A dozen states plus Washington, D.C., are already paying an average of over $4 for regular unleaded, AAA reported.

They are Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and West Virginia.

The most expensive state for buying gas is Connecticut, where a gallon of regular unleaded costs on average $4.255, according to AAA.

The second most expensive state is Alaska, where a gallon of gas costs $4.249.
